A graduate of the Clinical Child Psychology program at The University of British Columbia (1995), Dr. Short currently coordinates the research service for the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. Under her leadership, and with critical contributions from representative stakeholders within the board and scientific community, the Evidence-Based Education and Services Team, or E-BEST, was developed and piloted over the past several years. Aligned to complement existing board structures, it was launched in Fall 2004, carrying a central mandate of translating empirical findings into actionable messages for educators and other school board professionals. In addition to facilitating research activities within this context, Dr. Short has a keen interest in stress and childhood anxiety/depression and is involved in several related projects, including a collaboration with UCLA exploring the value of a class-wide depression prevention program at the middle school level. Within her small private practice, Dr. Short sees children and adolescents with a range of psychological difficulties for both assessment and intervention.
